This presentation introduces genetics/genomics concepts with relevant gastroenterology clinical examples and emphasis on the National Institutes of Health Roadmap priorities. Recently endorsed American Nurses Association genomic nursing competencies are presented with application for gastroenterology nursing. Program topics and examples include pharmacogenetics, molecular footprint of disease, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, and the defining role for family history information. This program is for all levels of nursing.
