More and more evidence is emerging about nosocomial reservoirs as potential source of C. difficile infection. As the name implies, research investigating the factors contributing to the spread of this fastidious anaerobe is difficult at best and has resulted in unclear guidance from both regulatory agencies and disinfectant manufacturers. In this talk, we discuss C. difficile, the misleading nature of some C. difficile claims, the disinfectant susceptibility profile of this microorganism and best practices to kill it.
