Course Summary
The SGNA Vendor Rep Course provides industry representatives a unique view of the GI lab utilizing audience interaction, a video tour of a GI facility, demonstrations, GI nurse instructors, and a course workbook. Through the use of video, participants will see typical GI procedures from the perspective of both the nurse and patient. These vignettes will highlight aspects of a procedure such as: patient prep, procedure, recovery and discharge, and equipment management and reprocessing.
Course Objectives
- Identify the facilities and services that are common to all settings where
endoscopy is performed.
- List the two primary purposes for performing endoscopic procedures.
- Give at least one indication for each of the five most common endoscopic
procedures.
- Compare and contrast the roles of the secretary, nurse, and technician in
an endoscopy facility.
- Describe three elements to consider when calling at an endoscopy facility.
