Testimonial from SGNA Member, Kimberly Grubbs, LPN MA & 2007 Educational Course Scholarship Recipient:
Dear SGNA ;
I want to extend my sincere thanks for the scholarship that I received from SGNA . It allowed me to attend the 2007 National Conference in Baltimore .
I have been an LPN for 15 years and had been planning to finish my RN this year. The scholarship enabled me to still attend the conference. I have been to the SGNA conference for the past 5 years in a row. Financially, I would have had to make a choice this year between school and attending. The scholarship let me do both! I was able to go to the conference that I have come to look forward to every May. I get new information each time. I carry it back to my department at the VA in San Francisco- GI Clinic.
We make changes based on many things that we learn from the conference.
It helps us remain evidence-based in our approach. Because of this scholarship, I was able to run into two co-workers from Hawaii who I had not seen in over 10 years. They were attending for the first time in a long time from Hawaii . I was going to take the LPN certification exam. Unfortunately, it has been dissipated for the LPN's. Now that I am set to complete my RN in May of 2008, I will return to take the RN certification exam(ABCGN). Thank you thank you thank you! I could not have come this far without your help!
I urge anyone who is debating on applying. Go for it! Like the little engine who could, you can!
