Course Summary

The SGNA Vendor Rep Course provides industry representatives a unique view of the GI lab utilizing audience interaction, a video tour of a GI facility, demonstrations, GI nurse instructors, and a course workbook. Through the use of video, participants will see typical GI procedures from the perspective of both the nurse and patient. These vignettes will highlight aspects of a procedure such as: patient prep, procedure, recovery and discharge, and equipment management and reprocessing.


Course Objectives

  1. Identify the facilities and services that are common to all settings where endoscopy is performed.
  2. List the two primary purposes for performing endoscopic procedures.
  3. Give at least one indication for each of the five most common endoscopic procedures.
  4. Compare and contrast the roles of the secretary, nurse, and technician in an endoscopy facility.
  5. Describe three elements to consider when calling at an endoscopy facility.

This online course costs $125 for SGNA members and $250 for non-members. This includes
